The first theory about the dog's age<\/h2>

It is common opinion that to calculate the age of a dog, it is sufficient to multiply 7 human years for each year of the dog's life. <\/strong><\/p>

This simple method has been around for some time and has now entered popular wisdom. In reality, the calculation made in this way is very rough because many factors influence the aging of every living thing. The size <\/strong> that a dog reaches as an adult is one of those factors that affects the aging of the dog in a more marked way. The size and therefore the weight already determines at the start the maximum and average age <\/strong> that a dog can reach.<\/p>

In dog breeds of large size <\/strong> each year it weighs much more than 7 in comparison with human age <\/strong>, instead for those of small size <\/strong> one year worth roughly 6 <\/strong>.<\/p>

Small size dogs <\/strong> have a longer life and on average they can live from 15 to 18 years <\/strong>.<\/p>

Medium-sized dogs <\/strong> like labradors instead usually live at most 13 or 14 years <\/strong>.<\/p>

Those of large size <\/strong> live on average around 9-11 years <\/strong>.<\/p>

Questo studio \u00e8 stato condotto da un team dell’Universit\u00e0 della California a San Diego guidato da Tina Wang.<\/p>

Il team ha esaminato i tassi di metilazione del Dna<\/strong> un elemento che misura l’invecchiamento dell’organismo, in 104 Labrador<\/a> di et\u00e0 compresa tra quattro settimane e 16 anni. Quindi questo studio \u00e8 proprio specifico dell’et\u00e0 del labrador.<\/p>

The team then compared the methylation rates of these dogs with the methylation profiles of 320 people aged 1 to 103 years.<\/p>

Cosa ha dimostrato questo nuovo studio sull’et\u00e0 del labrador<\/h4>

In doing so it turned out that in some stages of life, a dog follows the same pattern as humans in the aging process, while in other periods of life the timeline moves differently. For example, the methylation rate of a 7 week old puppy corresponds to that of a 9 month old baby. In this period, for example, both species begin to put the first teeth at the same time. But linear parallelism stops after early childhood.<\/p>

After childhood the dog's clock ticks much faster than the man's. Dog puppies accelerate towards puberty and reach sexual maturity within their first year of life. Subsequently, the dog's epigenetic clock slows down with advancing age and starts again to match that of humans in the following years. Overall, the average lifespan of a 12-year-old Labrador aligns with the average lifespan of human life worldwide, which is around 70 years.<\/p>

So how do you calculate the age of the labrador?<\/h4>

La nuova formula che \u00e8 stata ricavata per calcolare l’et\u00e0 del cane richiede calcoli un po’ pi\u00f9 complessi di una moltiplicazione per sette (come spiegato). La formula prevede infatti moltiplicare il logaritmo naturale dell’et\u00e0 di un cane per 16, quindi aggiungere 31. Chiaro, no?<\/p>

Per chi volesse approfondire ulteriormente o volesse calcolare l’et\u00e0 del proprio labrador riportiamo la formula: [et\u00e0 umana=16ln (et\u00e0 del cane) + 31]. Secondo questo calcolo, un cane di 2 anni equivale a un uomo di 42 anni. Un cane di 5 anni equivale a un essere umano di 56,7 anni, e un cane di 10 anni equivale a una persona di 67,8 anni.<\/p>
